Cheney says attack on Ukraine train station ‘clearly genocide,’ Sullivan won’t concur

Rep. Liz Cheney on Sunday blasted Russia’s rocket attack on a Ukrainian train station as “clearly genocide,” while National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan dodged accepting the description of the horrific civilian slaughter.

Cheney, an anti-Trump Republican from Wyoming, said there was no question that the attack that killed at least 52 people, including five children, in a crowded train station Friday in Kramatorsk was genocide.

“I think … Europe needs to understand and grapple with the fact that you’ve got a genocidal campaign, the first kind of horrific genocidal campaign, that we’ve seen certainly in recent decades,” Cheney said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Friday’s attack, which came as about 4,000 civilians had been in and around the station, has been denounced by some as yet another war crime amid the Russian invasion of the country.
